To make cultural tourism an actual axis of territorial development

Evaluate, diversify, promote and improve policies and the best practices in cultural tourism in different European regions to make them the axis of proper sustainable territorial development. It is the fundamental objective of the European IMPACTOUR project.

Led by the Faculty of Science and Technology of NOVA Lisbon University, the initiative has the Santa María la Real Foundation's participation through Cultur Viajes. Our agency specialized in cultural tourism. Ten other organizations from nine countries complete the working team: representatives of Tecnalia, Cyprus University of Technology, Institute of Baltic Studies, Matera Hub Consortium, European Network of Accessible Tourism, ACIR Compostelle, Association of Municipalities of the Autonomous Region of the Azores, Estonian Tourist Office, Transromanica Cultural Route and the pan-European federation Europa Nostra.

Until 2022 we will strengthen cultural tourism as one of the drivers of growth and economic development in Europe. We develop innovative methodologies and tools based on the data extracted from 14 information pilots, which have 14 successful cultural tourism initiatives as a reference. It is going to be subsequently be verified in 5 other validation pilots.

The European Commission funds IMPACT OUR under the Horizon 2020 Program (contract 870747). The project counts with a total budget of 2,971,250 euros.
